Message from Dave's Grandson Jacob Berkley

"Hello, I'm Jacob Berkley, I'm Dave Lizor's grandson. As a writer, I really wanted to make a biography book of Dave's life. However, I don't have his entire life documented or all of the events of it.

I feel getting people who knew him to tell me about thier experiences and what they know of his life would be a great help. I'd love for people to give me memories of him, with a date or at least a year of when thier story takes place. Not to mention, what he was simply doing during a specific year (or multiple years) would be helpful.

If anyone could send me all thier memories of him or what they know of his life, hopefully we could construct a biography of his entire life. We could preserve our memories of him and his wonderful life. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you'd like to help, send me a message of your stories with him and what he was doing during a year (or multiple years) to create a written version of his life and his influence which can be preserved. Include your name and send your message to the following email:

Thank you for helping to preserve my grandpa's wonderful life. :)

Memories of Dave

I’m Walter and Caron Wells’ daughter.

My memories of Dave started in the late 80’s/early 90’s when he had a tape out with songs for children.

He came to an All Souls canoe trip and sang teddy bear picnic with Jane Gilbreath. He then sang about crocodilians and had me hooked. I bought a couple tapes and listened to them at least weekly with all the little ones I taught.

When I became a mom and started homeschooling my own wee ones, his tapes were high on the list for all of them.

I will miss his higher than he should try for high notes when entertaining kiddos and his never ending changes to his facial hair.

He was one of the kindest men I had the honor growing up with. He always had a smile on his face and his laugh was contagious. He always took time to ask how I was, tell me a joke and always stopped what he was doing when the cookies were done to taste test. I have so many fun memories of going to Jams at his house. We always baked cookies, I remember running all over his house and yard while hearing bluegrass music playing in the background. Being sang by my dad and many other amazing musicians! Sarah was always so kind and patient with me as I was much younger than her. Some of my best memories as a kid was Saturday night jams. There was always yummy food, family that always spoiled me as I was the youngest out of the kids and of course the best music ever. I loved falling asleep listening to the sounds of guitars, banjos, spoons, bass, eggs and of course all of their amazing voices. Please help support this amazing family!
